Your body and mind are connected and influence each other. This also applies to your digestion, thoughts, and emotions. Digestive problems can lead to stress, nervousness, and anxiety, and in turn, stress, anxiety, and nervousness can cause more digestive problems. It’s a bit of a vicious circle that can be challenging to get out of. However, in this program, we aim to do just that—to break the cycle and create more balance between the gut and the mind. This involves becoming more aware of thought patterns, reducing mental clutter, calming the nervous system through yoga and relaxation, and stimulating digestion through both gentle and more dynamic yoga.
Everyone can participate in the program, regardless of experience (or not) with yoga, meditation, and relaxation.
This program is particularly suitable for those experiencing one or more of the following:
- Digestive problems such as stomach pain, constipation, bloating, “nervous” or upset stomach, nausea, etc.*
- Nervousness, worries, anxiety, and/or stress related to digestive issues (e.g., stress associated with symptoms, anxiety about “whether I’ll have stomach pain at tomorrow’s event”)
- Restlessness in the body and/or mind, such as mental clutter
- Unpredictable symptoms from the digestive system, where symptoms “come out of the blue” or vary from day to day
Over the course of the 6-week program, the focus will be on:
- Calming the nervous system (weeks 1+2) and easing stress and anxiety
- Becoming aware of and managing pain and tension (week 3)
- Stimulating the digestive system (week 4)
- Building a loving relationship to your gut, body and mind (weeks 5+6)
In weeks 1+2, the focus is on calming the nervous system and handling pain and tension. When we slow down, the parasympathetic nervous system becomes more active. This part of the nervous system is often known as the “rest and digest” system, because we digest our food better when we are at rest. In these two weeks, you will also be introduced to how the nervous and digestive systems work – separately and together! Knowing how emotions can affect your gut can be very beneficial when it comes to healing your gut. If you experience frequent bowel movements, it may also be beneficial to slow down completely, as nervousness and being in a state of stress can stress your gut. You can join regardless of whether you experience constipation, frequent bowel movements, or perhaps a combination. Balance is a keyword here —neither too much nor too little.
Through guided exercises and especially Yin yoga, you will be introduced to more tools for handling any pain and tension associated with digestive problems in week 3.
In week 4, the focus is on further stimulating digestion, and in weeks 5+6, we work on building a loving relationship to our digestion, body and mind. We often develop a strained relationship with our body and mind when we face challenges, and this also applies to our gut. We may feel irritation about why we have to experience these challenges. That is why, in the process of healing the gut, it can be crucial to take a good look at our relationship with our digestion. In this part of the program, a significant portion of the teaching will focus on self-love, caring for your body, and gratitude for everything your body can do.
You choose when you want to practice yoga and listen to the various meditations, relaxations, and exercises. This makes the program particularly suitable for you when you need some flexibility in your daily life.

*If you experience very severe stomach pain and/or symptoms, if your symptoms are new, or if you are nervous about your condition, I always recommend consulting a doctor first, both to exclude any underlying illness and to inquire about any precautions you should take.
